Fly With Flint

About Us

First, let's talk about you.

So, you have a dream to learn how to fly. Maybe you’ve always wanted to learn, or you’re just looking for something fun to try. You might have thought to yourself that becoming a pilot is out of reach because of time, money, effort, or any combination of those. Our mission is to make your dreams of flying become your reality. You and I will work as a team to make your story come alive. Just as I’ve done this for myself, we can make it happen for you!

Here’s my story.

Hi, I'm Michaela!

I started flying July 2019 in the Sling 2. At the beginning of my training, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with my license, I just wanted to have fun and learn something new. A few months into flying my instructor, Paul Hamilton, suggested that I continue my flying by becoming a flight instructor. I thought, “why not?” and so I began my journey. I started by earning my sport pilot ASEL and then I went on to private pilot ASEL the year after I got my sport. After flying a lot and built up my hours in the airplane, I decided to try something new: the Revo Trike.

I fell in love with the trike and began training to add it on to my sport pilot privileges. Being able to fly low above the ground over lake shores, valleys, and dry lake beds in the open-air cockpit introduced me to a whole new type of flying that I didn’t know existed. After 3 months of training, I was ready for my proficiency check and passed. By this time, I was almost ready for my Sport Certified Flight Instructor check ride. I committed all my time to flying almost everyday in preparation for airplane and trike Sport CFI, and I’m really glad I did.

I’m excited to meet lots of new people and share my passion of flying with anyone who wants to learn. A lot of people ask me what I’m going to do after I’m done instructing. Well, I don’t have many plans which means I’m not going anywhere. My goals right now are to keep adding on ratings to improve my skills, but mostly focus on instructing pilots and having fun. I’m also really hoping to encourage more women to fly!

I’m a third-generation pilot as well! Both my dad and his dad were pilots for many years. I learned how to fly in honor of my dad after he passed away.  Written below is my favorite aviation poem. My dad read this poem at his father’s memorial and my brother read the same poem at our dad’s memorial. It holds a special place in my heart.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds,—and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of—wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air .... Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace Where never lark nor ever eagle flew— And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
